The Hardest Problem in AI

Today we're launching Niural AI Labs and growing our Series A to $52 million. Here's what it means for you.

The oldest name in human history belongs to an accountant running payroll.

About five thousand years ago, in the Mesopotamian city of Uruk, someone pressed two marks into wet clay, Kushim, beside a record of barley and beer. It is the oldest name we can still read in the human record, and it belonged not to a king or a conqueror, but to the person keeping the accounts.

In Uruk, people were paid in grain and beer, so keeping those accounts was, in every practical sense, running payroll. Writing itself was invented for it: not to praise gods or tell stories, but to track who was owed what and make sure they got it. Payroll isn't a chore bolted onto civilization; it is civilization's oldest work.

Five thousand years later, that work is no less important, and no more forgiving. It still has to be exactly right, every time. It's the work thousands of companies now run on Niural, and today, we're making it dramatically better.

We're launching Niural AI Labs, and we've grown our Series A to $52 million. Here's what that means for you.

Your platform now has a research lab behind it

AI Labs announcement.

Niural is the platform you run your most important work on: payroll, benefits, payments, compliance. Niural AI Labs is the engine behind it.

There are frontier labs, there are wrappers, and there are neolabs: companies that take frontier intelligence and build the architecture to make it execute inside a specific domain. Cognition is the neolab for code. Niural AI Labs is the neolab for finance: long-horizon agents for work where the margin for error is zero.

Most AI is built for the opposite: tasks where being wrong is cheap. A clumsy email, a sixth finger on a hand, who cares. The world is drowning in it.

Niural builds the other kind: executional intelligence. AI that doesn't just tell you what should happen. It makes it happen. It runs the payroll. It files in every jurisdiction. It moves the money, on the deadline, to the cent. The name was always the plan. Niural: a neural network for the office of the CFO. A living system that executes your financial operations, not just describes them back to you.

We set this frontier. And rather than sit on that lead, we're extending it with Niural AI Labs.

Payroll and benefits were the hardest possible training ground: a production environment where every decision has a right answer, a deadline, and consequences. It forced us to build for correctness: workflow orchestration, agent decomposition, verifiable data, evaluation systems, agents whose every move can be checked and held accountable. The Lab takes those hard-won agentic lessons and pushes them outward, into everything else a CFO has to carry.

All of it is wired straight into the product you already use. Every breakthrough flows back to you: more autonomous workflows, faster operations, fewer handoffs, stronger compliance, before you even notice. That is the whole promise: to do more, care more, and achieve more for you, across all the work that keeps your company running.

This runs on owned infrastructure, institutional credibility, at real scale

AI Labs blog announcement.

Here's what sits under all of it. Niural is AI-native and a regulated operator of financial, benefits, and compliance infrastructure, both at once, which almost no one else is. We run payroll and payments in more than 150 countries, on proprietary tax engines and regulated money movement we built ourselves.

Code alone is not enough. You can't software your way into regulated benefits infrastructure. It takes standing with the institutions that govern it. We carry master plans directly with the carriers, including Aetna, Guardian, and Kaiser: earned, regulated relationships. This is why your team gets benefits usually reserved for companies ten times your size, alongside AI-native tech.

And the scale is massive. Since our master medical partnership with Aetna went live in April 2026, Niural has crossed $200 million in annualized gross revenue on our PEO product alone, while moving billions of dollars in global transaction volume every year for fast-growing companies like Rillet, Sevaro, ConductorOne, and Polygon.

Niural grows with you, from Day Zero to IPO

We built Niural for the entire life of your company. Day Zero, when you're hiring your first employee. Through scale, when you're running hundreds of people across a dozen countries. To IPO and beyond, when every detail has to be flawless.

Most platforms make you rip everything out and switch as you grow. Niural is the one that grows with you, more capable at every stage, because the agents run against the entire system of record, from ASO to PEO to enterprise to international local entity payroll, all on proprietary rails. No other payroll company has this level of sheer product depth and breadth.

The people who use Niural just invested in it

We grew our Series A to $52 million. And here's the part we're proudest of: the new capital came from our own customers and partners. FOG Ventures is a great example: it is the investing arm of Operators Guild, a community of CFOs, COOs, and finance leaders who back the products they actually use. Many of them already run Niural, for their own companies and their clients. People who do finance for a living choosing the product they already trust.

"Our community does finance and operations for a living, and we only back what we actually use. Many of us already run Niural, for our own companies and our clients. Investing was an easy decision, doubling down on a product we rely on and a team focused on building AI native products for our members."

— Casey Woo, Founder, FOG Ventures / Operators Guild

The hard part isn't sounding right. It's being right.

The industry is full of intelligence that sounds right. The work that runs a company can't be sounds-right. The money has to move. The taxes have to be filed, in the right country, on the right day. The benefits can't be wrong. The ledger can't be wrong.

We started there on purpose. It's the hardest version of the problem, and proof that the rest is possible. The same intelligence that can be trusted with your paycheck can be trusted with everything else a company runs on, and in time, with the highest-stakes work there is. That is what the Lab is for.

Frontier labs are racing to build intelligence that can do anything. We build the intelligence you can trust with the work that can't go wrong. That's what a neolab is for. Customers already call Niural the Anthropic for payroll and benefits. Niural AI Labs is how that extends to every high-stakes function a company runs on. The people who use Niural every day just put their own capital behind it.

The oldest work in the world is finally getting the tools it deserves. We're bringing it to every company on earth.

Let's get to work.
