Managing Your Organizational Structure in Niural

For People teams running a workforce across more than one entity, the org chart has usually lived somewhere other than the payroll platform. Departments, teams, and manager roles are now available, so the structure you run day-to-day lives in the same system that already handles payroll, PTO, and approvals.

Two connected features.

Departments and teams. You can now create departments and teams in Niural and place them wherever they belong: global (spanning every entity), local (inside a single entity), or shared across a selected set of entities. Departments and teams now flow through reports, the people directory, and functional org charts.

Department and team managers. Two new manager roles map directly to that structure. Department managers review and approve PTO, expenses, and timesheets for everyone in their department. Team managers do the same for their team. Approval authority now belongs to the role, and the role is defined by the structure.

Your compliance boundary and your org chart don't have to match

Entities remain your compliance boundary, the legal structures where people are employed, taxed, and filed. That doesn't change. What's new is that your operating structure no longer has to borrow the entity's shape.

A function rarely stops at an entity line. Engineering, sales, and support routinely span multiple countries and multiple legal entities. Before, there was no way to see that function as one group inside Niural. Now a department can span every entity a function operates in, while each entity still handles its own compliance underneath. You get one view of the function and clean legal separation at the same time.

How approvals change

This is where People and payroll teams will feel it first. Now scope follows the department or team. A department manager approves for everyone in the department, regardless of which entity each person is employed under. A team manager approves for their team. The people closest to the work make the call, and admins stop being the default clearinghouse for every request.

Structure it the way your company actually runs

Departments and teams are meant to be combined however your organization is shaped. A department can be global while the teams beneath it are local. A team can be shared across a chosen set of entities. Nesting is up to you.

And structure changes. As it does, you can promote a department from local to global, merge departments, or archive the ones you no longer use, without rebuilding the hierarchy or moving people between entities to force a reporting line.
